The Bologna Collection from Mainz

Mainzu’s Bolonia Collection revives the warmth of the traditional rustic style through a range of high-quality ceramic wall tiles. Its clear inspiration from classic handcrafted floor and wall tiles brings a timeless charm to the interior walls of the home. Thanks to its glazed finishes, this range creates surfaces rich in nuance and with a unique visual character.

Aesthetic appeal and medieval charm in the Bolonia Collection

The graphic character of this collection stands out for its rich colour palette of warm, Mediterranean tones. You can choose from the Bolonia Blanco, Ocre, Cotto or Blue base colours to create cosy spaces full of character. The jewel in the collection is the Decor Medievo, an ornate piece that brings geometric dynamism and a stately, rustic air to any wall.

The tiles’ satin finishes soften the ambient light in rooms, enhancing the deliberate variation in their graphic design. This variation between pieces mimics the natural wear and tear of antique ceramics, lending a deep visual texture. Furthermore, the collection includes special finishing pieces such as mouldings and coordinating moulded borders in Blue, Ochre and Cotto shades to complete the tiling.

The main decorative options offered by this Mainzu range include:

• Smooth, glazed bases in traditional colours such as White, Ochre, Cotto and Blue.
• Decorative tiles such as ‘Decor Medievo’ with classic-style geometric motifs.
• 20x5 cm Bolonia mouldings designed to create skirting boards or top borders.
• 20x3 cm Bolonia mouldings, ideal for creating borders and dividing spaces.

Technical quality in red body and the Bolonia Collection format

Meticulously manufactured from red-body clay, this range guarantees excellent performance for vertical interior tiling. Its iconic 20x20 cm square format allows for versatile and quick installation, adapting perfectly to the geometry of any wall. Its balanced material strength ensures walls remain intact despite everyday domestic use.

The protective surface glaze prevents the build-up of dirt and significantly simplifies regular maintenance tasks. Its low porosity prevents the absorption of moisture and common household stains, keeping the tiles spotless with minimal care. It is the perfect combination of the beauty of handcrafted ceramics and the functionality of modern materials.

The key technical characteristics of this wall tile stand out for their reliability:

• Red-body ceramic substrate manufactured to strict quality standards.
• A convenient 20x20 cm square format to optimise installation time.
• A quick-clean glazed surface resistant to everyday chemicals.
• Complementary moulded pieces for professional finishing of corners and edges.

Decorative applications of the Bolonia Collection in the home

The aesthetic and technical versatility of this range makes it an ideal choice for rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms. On the backsplashes of Mediterranean or rustic kitchens, it protects walls from splashes whilst adding an unforgettable handcrafted aesthetic. In bathrooms, it is perfect for creating half-height skirting boards combined with mouldings and round mouldings.

You can also use the collection to highlight feature walls in dining rooms, hallways or traditionally themed commercial premises. By combining plain tiles with the Decor Medievo range, you can elegantly define areas without overwhelming the space. Choosing this Mainzu range ensures a durable, timeless and characterful finish for your projects.
