Fixing to façades

Installing mechanical fixing systems for façades ensures maximum stability and safety for the external cladding of any building, preventing detachment and guaranteeing an impeccable architectural finish.

Advantages of mechanical fixing systems for façades

Mechanical fixing systems for façades offer an essential supplementary or primary fixing solution when installing large-format ceramic or natural stone tiles on exterior surfaces. Their primary function is to mechanically secure each tile to the substrate to prevent accidental detachment caused by adhesive failure.

The use of stainless steel anchors or concealed clips is essential on façades exposed to extreme weather conditions, drastic temperature changes and strong gusts of wind. These components accommodate the material’s expansion and distribute loads evenly, ensuring the long-term structural integrity of the cladding.

There are various fixing methods, ranging from visible systems with safety clips to invisible anchors that are integrated into the thickness of the ceramic tile. The choice depends on the project’s aesthetic requirements, the height of the building and the specific weight of the tiles selected for the façade.

Anchoring and safety techniques for external applications

Furthermore, the combination of chemical bonding using additive-enriched mortars and mechanical retention ensures optimal performance in the face of fluctuations in humidity and ageing. This hybrid installation technique for ceramic façades meets the requirements of the most stringent building regulations regarding safety and risk prevention.

Before installation, it is essential to check the condition of the base surface, ensuring it is level, sound and free from cracks or loose parts. Proper preparation of the substrate optimises the performance of the anchoring system and facilitates precise alignment of all the components making up the building envelope.

Finally, using tools and accessories specifically designed for scoring or drilling tiles minimises the risk of breakage during handling. Using high-quality components preserves the building’s external appearance and drastically reduces the need for façade maintenance for decades to come.

Key recommendations for façade fixing

• Combine chemical adhesive with mechanical fixings at heights exceeding three metres.
• Select stainless steel clips to prevent rust stains and external corrosion.
• Carry out the machining and fixing flanges on the tiles in accordance with the technical guidelines.
• Check the mechanical strength and density of the supporting wall before anchoring.
