Mortar mesh

Fibreglass mesh for reinforcing mortar and concrete offers an advanced technical solution to prevent cracks and fissures in vertical renderwork and continuous cladding. Designed to absorb the mechanical stresses of the materials and cushion thermal changes, these meshes guarantee maximum structural durability. If you are looking to protect your walls and facades against deformation or seasonal expansion, this range provides the reinforcement your project requires.

Technical properties and structural strength of fibreglass mesh

Manufactured from high-tenacity glass filaments and treated with alkali-resistant coatings, these reinforcement meshes perfectly withstand the chemical aggressiveness of fresh cement without degrading. Their flexible mesh structure distributes local tensile stresses evenly, preventing the formation of cracks caused by plastic shrinkage during the setting process. Thanks to their balanced weight and mesh density, they offer exceptional structural strength whilst maintaining minimal load on the substrate.

The high tensile strength and dimensional stability make this system an essential component for high-performance exterior and interior cladding. Its surface treatment prevents fraying during cutting and installation, ensuring optimum adhesion to single-layer mortars, lime or cement. By incorporating this mesh into your walls, you achieve a continuous protective layer that withstands moderate impacts and fluctuations in ambient temperature.

Professional application on vertical cladding and render

To achieve a flawless finish on vertical cladding, it is recommended to lay the mesh over a first layer of mortar whilst it is still fresh, pressing gently with a trowel. Next, apply the second layer of mortar until the mesh is completely covered, ensuring that it is embedded in the outer third of the total thickness. This application method guarantees perfect bonding between layers and maximises the system’s crack-resistant properties.

Available in practical 1 x 50-metre rolls, these solutions allow large wall surfaces to be covered quickly, continuously and efficiently. Their versatility facilitates overlapping between adjacent sections, reinforcing critical points such as corners of openings, jambs, lintels or joints between different types of materials. The strength of the fibreglass mesh prevents cracks caused by settlement or structural vibrations.

Key benefits of reinforcement for mortar and concrete

• Effective protection against cracks and fissures caused by thermal changes or expansion.
• High resistance to attack by alkalis present in cement and lime pastes.
• Uniform distribution of mechanical stresses across the entire vertical surface.
• Lightweight format in a continuous roll that speeds up installation on site and minimises waste.
• Excellent compatibility with traditional mortars, single-layer systems and external insulation systems.

Criteria for selecting the most suitable mesh according to the requirements of the project

When selecting the appropriate reinforcement mesh, it is essential to assess the type of mortar used, the thickness of the layer and the level of environmental exposure of the wall surface. For conventional rendering and façade plastering work, the 1x50-metre white rolls provide uniform and clean coverage. Incorporating this technical element into your projects ensures flawless finishes that stand the test of time and are free from structural defects.

Ensure you plan for minimum overlaps between sections to maintain the continuity of the reinforcement across the entire surface to be clad. Having a well-reinforced substrate drastically reduces subsequent maintenance and repair costs in homes or commercial premises.
