APE’s Fado Collection

APE’s Fado collection brings the authenticity of craftsmanship to a contemporary concept in ceramic cladding, blending the aesthetic sensibility of hand-crafted surfaces with the technical precision of digital technology. This range stands out for the rich texture of its glazes and a striking visual depth that transforms vertical surfaces into dynamic canvases. Its colour palette and decorative style allow spaces to be designed with a distinct architectural character, combining traditional craftsmanship with optimal performance.

Textural inspiration and rich colours in APE’s Fado Collection

The series is based on a meticulous study of colour and material, offering finishes that reveal unique nuances when illuminated by ambient light. Its five base shades — White, Beige, Grey, Sky and Acqua — range from serene neutrals to shades of blue and green with a distinct aquatic character. The texture of its glazes precisely reproduces the deliberate imperfection of the edges and the tonal variations characteristic of tiles from traditional workshops, lending an undeniable tactile warmth to any room.

To complement this varied colour palette, the collection features a wide range of decorative designs that enrich its aesthetic appeal. The ornamental compositions of the Mariza, Carmo, Amalia, Tavares, Moura and Pontes variants reinterpret classic motifs with a modern sensibility, allowing for the creation of accent areas or skirting boards of great expressive value. The integration of these decorative elements into the colour schemes ensures absolute formal coherence throughout the entire decorative project.

Modular versatility and finishing solutions in the Fado series

The design of this APE collection is structured around rectangular and square proportions, conceived to maximise installation possibilities on interior walls. The availability of standard formats and smaller, stylised pieces allows for alternating herringbone, horizontal interlocking or aligned layouts, adapting to both compact spaces and large vertical surfaces. This modular flexibility makes the series an ideal tool for designers seeking technical customisation.

To achieve clean transitions and corner joints, the range includes special pieces such as the Edge Stick ceramic finishing strip in each of the series’ colours. This functional element simplifies the finishing of exposed edges without the need for metal profiles from outside the collection, ensuring impeccable aesthetic continuity. The specifications and key pieces in the range include:

• Modular formats: square tiles measuring 13x13 cm and slender options measuring 6.5x13 cm and 6.5x39.6 cm.
• Decorative variants: ornamental pieces – Mariza, Carmo, Amalia, Tavares, Moura and Pontes – coordinated with the base tiles.
• Finishing pieces: 1.5x13 cm Edge Stick ceramic profiles available in all five colours of the range.
• High-end glazes: digital technology applied to achieve unique depth effects and tonal variations.

Design applications and technical resistance of APE ceramics

Thanks to its low-porosity ceramic composition, the Fado series offers excellent resistance to continuous exposure to moisture and contact with standard cleaning products. It is an ideal choice for bathroom wall tiles, kitchen splashbacks and shower areas where an easy-to-maintain material is required that retains its lustre and texture unchanged over time. Its technical durability is combined with a timeless aesthetic suitable for both residential and commercial projects.

In the realm of contemporary interior design, this collection fits perfectly into projects with a neo-rustic, Mediterranean or organically inspired contemporary style. Its ability to combine plain and decorated tiles allows for the definition of areas such as washbasin backsplashes, built-in showers or decorative murals in living rooms and hospitality spaces. The range strikes an ideal balance between the charm of a handcrafted finish and the high mechanical performance demanded by modern design.
