Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD-N are prefabricated construction elements from KERDI-BOARD for the construction of niches and racks in wall areas of all kinds.
In combination with the Schlüter-KERDI waterproofing system, a fully waterproofed niche can be built. It is possible to apply other types of extensible coatings on the panels with a spatula or suitable plasters, although a coating with ceramic tiles is normal.
It is made of rigid extruded XPS foam with a thickness of 12.5 mm. The upper part of the product is covered by a reinforcement layer of a material without cementitious components and with a geotextile coating suitable for mechanical anchoring of the adhesive, extensible coatings applied with a spatula or suitable plasters. The niche has a grid surface on one side to facilitate cutting with a printed grid of 10 x 10 mm.
It is waterproof and resistant to the chemical aggressions to which ceramic coatings can be habitually exposed

Installation with other Schlüter-KERDIBOARD panels:
- Position the prefabricated element on the wall, mark its external dimensions on the wall and proceed to cut the panel.
- Fix the prefabricated elements with the appropriate screws to the upright (support). The maximum spacing between screws should not exceed 25 cm. On walls covered with Schlüter-KERDI-BOARD panel, SchlüterKERDI-BOARD-ZT fastening washers must be used. The screws must be fixed in the area where the panel is joined and the prefabricated element. An additional bond is possible with the use of SchlüterKERDI-FIX elastic adhesive.
- For safe waterproofing in areas where water is present, the joints must be waterproofed with the Schlüter-KERDI prefabricated sleeve and the SchlüterKERDI-COLL-L adhesive.
Installation with plasterboard:
- Position the prefabricated element on the wall, mark its external dimensions on the wall and proceed to cut the panel.
- Fix the prefabricated elements with the appropriate screws to the upright (support). The maximum spacing between screws should not exceed 25 cm. For a correct fixation on walls covered with plasterboard, the niche will be fixed with screws (leave 6 mm distance from the outer edge of the prefabricated element). An additional bond is possible by applying the Schlüter-KERDI-FIX elastic adhesive on the back of the niche.
- In areas where water and water vapour are present, the walls should be waterproofed with Schlüter-KERDI. In the area where the niche joins the plasterboard, the waterproof adhesive SchlüterKERDI-COLL-L must be used for bonding the sleeve. In all other areas, the Schlüter-KERDI film is glued to the substrate with a cement-glue suitable for the substrate (see product data sheet 8.1). To finish the waterproofing, the KERDI-KEBA sealing strip must be used.
Important:
When using a niche with intermediate spacing, you should take into account: Firstly, position the shelf and mark this position at the bottom of the niche directly above the niche. Install the front and side liner underneath the shelf by the thin-film method. For the installation of the shelf, adhesive cement must be used on the side walls and on the back of the shelf. Rest the shelf on the previously installed bottom liner. Recommendation: in areas with a high presence of water, it should be installed on the shelf on a slope to prevent stagnant water. Alternatively, you can lay the ceramic on a slope with the help of a thin-layer adhesive. In this way, we will avoid the accumulation of water after use
