VELUX blackout blinds

Ensuring a restful night’s sleep and complete control over light in attics or rooms with sloping ceilings is very simple when you install solar blackout blinds for roof windows. This practical solution allows you to block out light and efficiently optimise the indoor temperature.

Advantages of solar blackout blinds

As they are solar-powered, there is no need for electrical wiring or complex installations on the roof. Each unit features a small photovoltaic panel and a built-in battery that store the sun’s energy, ensuring smooth operation at any time of day.

Their high-density technical fabric blocks 100 per cent of external light, creating total darkness – perfect for bedrooms or home cinema areas. Furthermore, the backing acts as an effective thermal insulator, reducing overheating in summer and retaining heat during winter.

Operation via a wireless remote control offers exceptional convenience, allowing you to adjust the blind’s position comfortably from anywhere in the room. This automated technology is particularly useful for high-up windows or those on the roof that are difficult to access manually.

Design and integration into loft windows

In terms of aesthetics, these solutions feature sleek profiles and clean finishes that blend harmoniously with existing window frames. You can choose from a wide range of neutral colours and decorative shades to complement your home’s décor whilst maintaining a flawless design.

The fitting process is intuitively designed to fit perfectly with the window structure without requiring specialised tools. As the system is precisely secured to the frame, it prevents any gaps at the sides through which light might seep, ensuring a completely uniform visual seal.

Installation and maintenance recommendations

Keeping these fabric accessories in perfect condition is a quick process that requires very little effort as part of your household routine. We simply recommend dusting the surface periodically using a dry cloth or one lightly dampened with water and mild, neutral soap.

Before selecting the right model, it is important to check the window’s dimensions using the identification plate fitted to the frame. By following the manufacturer’s instructions, you will ensure a quick and precise installation, guaranteeing optimum thermal and lighting comfort for years to come.

Key reasons for choosing this blackout system:

• Solar-powered, with no need for wiring or building work.
• Total blockout of sunlight to achieve complete darkness.
• Convenient remote control, ideal for high windows.
• Improved thermal insulation all year round.
