Cleaning and maintenance of floor and wall coverings

Keeping your ceramic floor tiles looking spotless requires knowing the right techniques and products for each stage. Cleaning porcelain floor tiles correctly ensures that the material retains its original aesthetic appeal, preventing the build-up of dirt and protecting the grout from everyday wear and tear and stubborn stains.

Initial cleaning after building work and daily maintenance

Once a renovation or installation is complete, it is essential to carry out a deep clean of the surface. Residues of tile adhesive and grout must be removed using a specific acid-based cleaner that dissolves polymeric residues without damaging the structure or altering the colour of the tiles.

For day-to-day floor care, it is advisable to use highly concentrated neutral detergents diluted in water. Avoid using polishing waxes or conventional soaps that create sticky films, as these invisible films tend to trap dust and form unsightly marks due to constant foot traffic.

Protection and treatments for floor maintenance

On porous surfaces or outdoor areas, it is advisable to apply protective waterproofing treatments that seal the pores. These products prevent the absorption of oils, moisture and contaminants, greatly facilitating daily maintenance tasks and preserving the natural colour of the tiles for much longer.

A comprehensive ceramic tile care plan combines different stages of treatment to ensure the flooring’s maximum durability. Implementing a suitable routine from day one prevents premature deterioration and maintains the flooring’s anti-slip and hygienic properties in any room of the home.

• Initial cleaning upon completion of the works to remove mortar residue and construction debris.
• Daily routine maintenance by mopping with pH-neutral solutions.
• Stain-resistant treatments for grout and highly porous tiles.
• Regular degreasing in areas exposed to oils, such as kitchens or terraces.
